Brief Description:

Session 1 -
Creating Your Training Plan for 2021:
Meeting Employee and Organizational Needs

Today, even many large organizations have only a one-person Training Department. This person may have to plan multiple sessions, create the content, and teach it many times, live or online, to the entire company. Or, the size of the organization and the global reach (different time zones, geographic challenges) may require the use of online or recorded sessions, with varying degrees of quality in the materials and presentation. If you have training as a function in your job duties, you need to attend this program to make the best use of your time and energy and to make better use of the time and willingness to attend by your participants.

Training today is no longer just about forcing employees to sit through compliance-related classes that don’t always apply to their work; it’s all about filling a need in their skill sets and knowledge bases. This takes planning, thought, and organization. If you’re frustrated with the way training is perceived in your organization, it’s time to take a fresh look at it.
Senior leadership will want to know why they have to pull employees out of their jobs to attend live or online programs, even if they are only 30 minutes long. Ever try to get your bosses to agree to send employees to a half-day, full-day, or multi-day training class, especially offsite? This was a difficult persuasion process even before the Corona virus eliminated travel and sent employees to Work From Home.
As the global pandemic nears its end, it’s time to get back to the New Normal, where employees are much more comfortable taking training online via Zoom/MS Teams/Adobe. In addition, they are ready to get back to the class again, (to interact safely, of course) with their colleagues. When these live and online programs are taught well – fast, informative, and entertaining – they make the training function a valuable part of all-employee development. You will benefit from this session by learning how employees want to learn, today.

Session 2 -
How to Select an External Training Vendor

Finding, vetting, evaluating and hiring a learning and development company can be both stressful and arduous. But, it doesn’t have to be. The key is having a formal process, knowing what questions to ask and understanding how to evaluate the vendor’s work. The goal is to find a vendor/supplier/partner that you can trust. Trust to deliver a quality product. Trust to advise you when the scope of the project doesn’t fit within the budget or timeframe. Trust that they’ll candidly share when they do not believe they are the best partner to deliver a particular solution.
